Care

A feathery, photosynthetic gorgonian (sea plume) with soft, branching side branches. Usually purple, brown or yellowish. Naming: it was formerly placed in Pseudopterogorgia. Neither LiveAquaria nor Top Shelf Aquatics lists this species; the figures are general guidance for the genus, not from a source. Placement: upright in rockwork, middle level. Light and flow: moderate to high light and strong, alternating flow. Water: stable reef conditions. Growth: moderate. Sources: none (neither LiveAquaria nor Top Shelf Aquatics lists it). Checked October 2026.

Diet

Photosynthetic; also takes fine foods such as phytoplankton or micro-plankton.

Breeding

Cut a branch with scissors, remove a little tissue at the base and glue or wedge it into a plug or rock.

Compatibility and tank mates

Peaceful. Algae and cyanobacteria settling on its branches are the main problem.
