Care

A burrow-dwelling shrimp goby, usually paired with the pistol shrimp Alpheus ochrostriatus. Give it a sand and rubble bed with caves and a partner shrimp if possible. Tank size here is an estimate. The sources give no water figures, so the temperature, pH and salinity shown are general marine aquarium guidance, not species-specific: 24–27 °C, pH 8.1–8.4, specific gravity 1.023–1.026, with stable, well-filtered water. It comes from fairly deep water, so it may prefer moderate lighting and shaded areas. Diet

A carnivore that snaps up small crustaceans and fish passing its burrow. In the aquarium offer frozen mysis, brine shrimp and other small meaty foods.

Breeding

No captive breeding details are given in the sources.

Compatibility and tank mates

Reef safe. Peaceful with fish too big to eat, but may take very small shrimp or fry near its burrow.
