Care

Prefers muddy or soft bottoms and shelters in burrows made by invertebrates. Give it a deep, fine sand bed and rocks to burrow under. Tank size here is an estimate. The sources give no water figures, so the temperature, pH and salinity shown are general marine aquarium guidance, not species-specific: 24–27 °C, pH 8.1–8.4, specific gravity 1.023–1.026, with stable, well-filtered water. Sand-sifting gobies can lose condition in new tanks without enough life in the sand, so add it to an established system. Diet

A sand sifter that takes mouthfuls of sediment and filters out organic matter and small invertebrates. In the aquarium it needs a mature sand bed plus regular small feeds of frozen meaty foods.

Breeding

No captive breeding details are given in the sources.

Compatibility and tank mates

Reef safe and peaceful. Keep one per tank unless a pair; it may compete with other sand-sifting fish.
