Care

Najas indica is an Asian water nymph found from the Indian subcontinent to China, South-East Asia and New Guinea. Najas (water nymphs or naiads) are slender, brittle, fully submerged plants with narrow, finely toothed leaves, found almost worldwide. Our sources give no more about this species. Grow it like guppy grass: planted loosely or floating as soft, fast-growing cover in tropical tanks. Water figures are our estimate, not from the sources. Sources: Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Najas); Wikipedia, List of freshwater aquarium plant species. Checked October 2026.

Breeding

Broken stem pieces grow into new plants.

Compatibility and tank mates

Fine-leaved stems trap debris and are grazed by goldfish, silver dollars and large cichlids. Shrimp, fry and small tetras and rasboras suit it well; avoid strong flow and heavy diggers.
