Care

Eriocaulon sp. 'Vietnam' is a pipewort forming a basal rosette of thin, spiky, bright green leaves that look rather like pine needles. It reaches roughly 3–20 cm. Tropica rates it medium difficulty, with medium light and CO2 needs and medium growth. It needs soft, slightly acidic water and a nutrient-rich substrate, benefits from CO2, and regular fertilising helps prevent deficiencies. Use it in the foreground or midground. Water figures are our estimate, not from the sources. Tropica also sells Eriocaulon cinereum. Sources: Tropica (tropica.com/en/plants). Checked October 2026.

Breeding

Mature rosettes form side shoots that can be carefully separated with roots and replanted.

Compatibility and tank mates

For soft-water aquascapes with small fish and shrimp; digging fish uproot it.
